Praying ro Haiti

Let all of us come together in prayer for Haiti and its citizens. An earthquake has brought focus to a country that has been in dire straits for some time. There is power in prayer so let us tap into that power together so that many will be rescued, the country will be rebuilt, and healing will come to the nation.

New Decade

As the new decade begins to unfold, let us do things differently with a different focus and purpose. Let us move from self-centered, self consumed thoughts and actions and turn our attention to the things that matter most to our Lord: Being generous, sharing, and caring about those who have less than we do. Less is not limited to things, shelter, food, or water although they are important. Less includes those who do not know about God's unfailing, unending love. It includes those who have lived… Continue

Bless Us.

Bless us, this year wiith quietness of mind-
Teach us to be patient and always to be kind.

Financial Tips from E!

I'm starting a personal campaign begining January 1, 2010 to be "BROKE NO MORE!" and I encourage you to do the same! But when you do, be sure to teach someone else, especially the children, how to as well!

Step one on our journey...develop your budget! List your monthly income and your expenses. Don't forget to factor in donations and a little "mad money" for yourself. If you need a budget worksheet, Google it or create your own. In order for this to work, you've gotta STICK TO IT! Do not devia… Continue

According to recent single parent statistics, there are more than 13 million single parent households in the United States. And when you mention single parents, one of the first things many think about is child support!

With the growth of the internet and entertainment/gossip websites and tv programs, we know much more about celebrities' and public figures' lives. And their child support situation is always a hot topic with us.

I'm not sure what the actual stats are, but I do know a lot of sin… Continue

Homemade Fabric Freshener (Febreze like)

Ahhh….there’s nothing like a pleasant smelling home. I have been using this recipe for homemade fabric freshener for a few months and have grown to absolutely love it. The upside to this is that it’s so much cheaper to make than buying and takes less than a minute to make, however, there is a downside. [...]

Always Keep Some Change for Homemade Lemonade

This past Saturday I took a trip to the National Zoo in Washington, DC with my daugter, son-in-law, and the grands. About a block from the zoo there were the cutest little girls who were selling cups of lemonade for $1.00 from their homemade lemonade stand. I truly wanted to buy a cup to support [...]

Homemade Scrub for Kitchen Sinks

Image by Ian Haycox via Flickr This natural, non-toxic homemade recipe for cleaning kitchen sinks is absolutely fantastic. Your kitchen sink and drain will be cleaned and deodorized with a nice, fresh scent left behind by using just two simple ingredients….a lemon and baking soda. Ingredients: 1 fresh lemon half 1/4 cup baking soda Directions: Pour baking soda into a dish [...]

Quick and Simple Recipe for Shining Plant Leaves

Actually, this one is so simple that I’m not even sure if it can be classified as a homemade recipe. Theres only one ingredient that’s needed to make your plant leaves nice and shiny….milk. Yep, that’s it. Here’s all you need to do: Pour a little milk in a container or bowl. Dab a cotton ball, paper towel, [...]

Homemade Furniture Cleaner & Polish

If I suddenly shouted “oil and vinegar”, would salad be the first thing that comes to your mind? It certainly comes to my mind, but today, instead of putting the oil and vinegar on my salad, I’m going to push my bowl over to the side and use it to clean and polish the table. [...]
